Itinerary

This Sunday, December 10, the trampers are going to have a leisure walk for Yim Tin Tsai (Chinese: 鹽田仔; literally: "Little Salt Field) , Sai Kung.

We will meet at 9:40am at Sai Kung Pier and try to catch a ferry at 10:00am.  Taking a 15-minute boat ride from Sai Kung Pier, we will arrived at Yim Tin Tsai.  It is an offshore island where is located at Inner Port Shelter about 3km east of Sai Kung Town.  There was an abandoned Hakka village and all the villagers lived on farming, fishing and salt-making at the old days.  Besides salt farms and fish ponds could be found on the island, there are some former Hakka village houses, village school and also St. Joseph's Chapel.  We will spend couple of hours there and will end the walk before 4pm for the return boat back to Sai Kung. (HKD45.00 each person for the ferry - round trip).

Bushwhacking will be required.  Please show up in full gears withat least 1.5 litres of water, lunch, snacks, rain wear, wind breaker, a torch, sun block, gloves and mos-spray(but no cigarette).  If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk may be cancelled.  If in doubt, call the trampers hotline 8209-0517 in the morning.
