A less strenuous walk is prposed before the coming Chinese New Year (Year of the DOG).



SUBJECT to WEATHER ON SUNDAY 11 February 2018,  a 1.5-BOOT route is proposed to trek around the fomer frontier closed area at Ta Kwu Ling between Fu Tei Au - Wo Keng Shan


We will meet at 10:30 am at Sheung Shui Station inside the Concourse area near exit B2.

Start at Fu Tei Au, Sheung Shui and proceed to Wa Shan, which resembles the Great Wall.  Walk up to Tai Ling and take a look at the stone tablet erected during the Daoguang reign of Qing Dynasty.  Get a view of San Wai/Tai Ling Firing Range from afar and continue along the ridge.  The trip ends when we arrive at a rock nicknamed “Ta Tung Tung Shek” in Wo Keng Shan.  The route is mostly on an old military road with occasional sections of village roads.

- Take Kowloon Motor Bus Route No. 73K at Landmark North next to MTR Sheung Shui Station.
Finishing Point
Wo Keng Shan, Ta Kwu Ling (KK086949)
- Walk along Ping Yuen Road to Ping Che Road and get back to Landmark North by taking Kowloon Motor Bus Route No. 79K.  Then walk to MTR Sheung Shui Station.

Afterwards we have dinner in Sheung Shui Fan Leng as the reunion dinner before the New Year.



If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the walk may still go ahead but we will hike on conventional hiking trails. Please look for announcement on this website or on Facebook the evening before. If in doubt on the morning of the walk, please call 8209-0517.

Please remember to bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water (at least two litres), thick gloves, long trousers, good boots, wind break, sun block, a torch and head lamps with new batteries and a hat. Also, please bring your lunch.
